You've Got to Be Kidding?

A new study published last month in the journal “ Behavioural Processes” found that, surprisingly, cats displayed at least 276 different facial expressions.   Starting back in August 2021, researchers filmed about 30 cats that were up for adoption once a week at the CatCafe Lounge in Los Angeles.   Overall, researchers say they were able to observe 53 cats in total. Gee, who knew there were 276 different variations of “You are my servant.”  Now, I have no idea why a bunch of cats were hanging out at the “CatCafe Lounge” in LA.   I guess they must have been hoping to catch a few “lounge lizards.”   Frankly, I’m surprised these researchers only found 276 different facial expressions.   I mean, my cat “Smokey” has so many different facial expressions; he makes Meryl Streep look like a friggin’ amateur.   In fact, he’s been busy working on an all-cat remake of one of Meryl Streep’s most famous films, only this one will be called “Smokey’s Choice.” Anyway...

Governor Glenn Youngkin has introduced a new proposal for Virginia’s elementary schools, which would remove any mention of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from the curriculum of every elementary school in Virginia.   In addition, the proposal also bans topics such as lynching from being taught until 6th grade, and Christopher Columbus' role in the slave trade cannot be taught until 11th grade. Well, that makes things pretty clear.  There will be no damn teaching of “woke history” on Gov. Youngkin’s watch!  Now, you can call me crazy, but this almost sounds like “Cancel Culture!”  So, what’s up next - no more references to the “Civil War?”  It must now be referred to as “Stinkin’ Lincoln’s War of Northern Aggression?”  It’s all part of the Republican plan to replace “woke” history books, with these new, improved - MAGA history books. During an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union, Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves (R) refused to rule out the possibility that his state may ban certain forms of contraception.   This was part of his attempt to sidestep any questions regarding exactly what Republicans plan to do next when Roe v. Wade is overturned. Smart move, because everyone knows the best way to avoid people needing to have an abortion, would be to ban birth control.  Now, conservatives are always quick to point out that "The Constitution doesn't guarantee the right to have an abortion,” which is true.  On the other hand, the Constitution also doesn’t guarantee anyone the right to “scratch their ass” either.  Perhaps it’s time we “crackdown” on that too? Now, in their defense, it’s not really Republicans’ fault that most conservatives don’t fully understand the need for birth control.  After all, they can just use their personalities for that.  That said, I understand why Gov.
