You've Got to Be Kidding?

Speaking at a rally for far-right “election denying” Arizona Secretary of State candidate Mark Finchum, retired Army three-star general, Trump National Security Advisor, and QAnon zealot Michael Flynn told the crowd that 90% of all agencies in the federal government must be eliminated.   Flynn then added a rather shocking assessment about how the concept of “states’ rights”   actually gives governors the right to declare war, and “we’re probably gonna see that.” Gee, he’s predicting states will declare war against the federal government?  A three-star general and former National Security Advisor, actually encouraging governors to take up arms against the United States?  Frankly, about the only thing missing from that speech was the phrase "Death to America!”  Perhaps someone might wanna remind Gen. Right-wing agitators with millions of followers have long insisted the time will soon arrive when violence will not only be necessary, but also be one’s patriotic duty in order to “save the republic.”   The FBI’s search at Mar-a-Lago for classified documents is now presented as that tipping point, an existential threat to the United States that true patriots must thwart and prepare for “civil war.”   Meanwhile, folks like Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz are calling for defunding the FBI, while one Florida legislator is demanding Florida law enforcement immediately arrest any FBI personnel within the state, and sever all ties with Federal law enforcement agencies. Of course, and to no one’s surprise, Donald Trump is claiming “nothing like this ever happened to another ex-president before,” which is basically true, but that’s only because nothing like a “President Donald Trump” has ever happened to America before.  I mean, how dare these law enforceme...

Pastor Rick Joyner Claims God Wants Christian Veterans to Lead Good Militias:   Right-wing MorningStar Ministries Pastor Rick Joyner, recently appeared on “The Jim Bakker Show” to claim that God told him in a dream that He wants all Christian veterans to join up and lead local militias, because God expects Christians to take sides in the “upcoming civil war.” Gee, can anyone spell “sedition?”  Now, it’s a pretty safe bet Donald Trump can’t, but it sure sounds like Rick Joyner’s got it down.  So, it seems Pastor Joyner had a dream that God wants him to tell American Christians to prepare to kill fellow Americans who don’t fully share in Pastor Joyner’s religious beliefs?  Now, I’m admittedly no theologian, but his dreams sure do seem quite a bit different than the ones Dr. Martin Luther King had.
