You've Got to Be Kidding?

Habitual election denier and Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is yet again claiming election fraud, this time filing a 70-page lawsuit that calls for “an order setting aside the certified result of the 2022 election and declaring that Kari Lake is the winner.”   The thing is, even before voting began, Lake refused to say she would accept the results of the gubernatorial election unless she won.   Taking a page right out of the Trump playbook, she described the race as “botched,” before it was even called. Let’s see now, Kari Lake lost the election by 17,000 votes, and a full 100% of the votes have been counted.  So, she’s filing a lawsuit on what grounds again?   Hurt feelings?   Minorities got to vote too?   Bigfoot voted?   I mean, the election has already been certified.   That means, the only thing really left to be “certified” in Arizona, is Kari Lake herself.   Preferably, by a mental health professional.   Of course, ther...

In an extremely controversial move, Arizona Pima County Superior Court Judge Kellie Johnson has lifted a 50-year-old injunction on an 1864 civil war-era state law that had been in place before Arizona was a state.  That law puts a near-total ban on all abortions in the state. Smart move Arizona!  Because there is nothing 21st-century Americans want more than for politicians to bring back oppressive civil war-era laws.  You know, laws written before women even had the right to vote and were still legally considered to be just property.  The idea of disenfranchising over half the population should prove extremely popular.  Hell, I’m sure this ruling has giddy Arizona politicians thinking, “Hey, maybe it’s time to revisit that whole ‘slavery thing’ again.” That said, I suppose extreme right-wing judges resurrecting civil war-era legislation shouldn’t be all that shocking, considering Justice Alito went back a full five centuries in his writing on the Dobbs decis...

Kari Lake, the MAGA Republican candidate for governor of Arizona, is proposing that the US implement a two-tiered citizenship system, whereby the people who do not believe the 2020 election was stolen, should lose their status as full Americans - harkening back to the days of the 1787 “Three-Fifths Compromise.” Gee willikers, if I’m reading this correctly, it sounds like she wants citizenship to become sort of like a “subscription service.”  Now, my first thought was, “this woman is completely insane.”  Which, of course, makes her the perfect person to run as a Republican.  Then I remembered that I had better show some respect.  After all, the way things are going, she'll be the next Governor of Arizona.
